Calorie Comparison

I read something last night in the book called Integrative Nutrition by Joshua Rosenthal and I thought it was an excellent way to illustrate how you can lose weight without deprivation.

In the book it says, one package of oreos has 2,200 calories, 1 pound of peanut butter has 2,650. You can choose these options or you can eat as much as you want of nutrient rich foods. For the same amount of calories, you could have 1 pound of carrots, 1 pound of papaya, 1 pound of apples, 1 pound of onions, 1 pound of lettuce, 1 pound of kale, 1 pound of tofu, 1 pound of 2% cottage cheese, 2 pounds of cantalope, 2 pounds of celery, AND 2 pounds of cucumber. All these add up to 2,225 calories.

So for those of you worried about starving yourself to lose weight, think again. Choose nutrient rich, low calorie foods, and you can eat lots and lots of food. No deprivation here :-)
