Weight Loss Challenge Status

Just checking in with those of you who are participating in the weight loss challenge.  Have you made any lifestyle changes to help you reach your goals? Have you noticed any results?

I have lost 5 pounds so far and I am proud to say I finally fit into my jeans. I no longer have to continue to wear my maternity pants post pregnancy. Yeah!

Hand Washing

I’m going to talk about something so simple but so often overlooked: hand washing. You can’t imagine how may people don’t wash their hands and those who do may not be doing it correctly. Did you know that there is a correct way to wash your hands?

When you wash your hands, you need to use warm water and soap. Rub your hands together vigorously on the top and bottom. You should do this for a good amount of time. I usually recommend you sing the ABC song or sing happy birthday twice. Then, and this is very important, don’t turn off the faucet with your hands that you just cleaned. Grab your towel or paper towel and dry your hands, then turn off the faucet with the towel. You should also use a towel to open the door because others are not being as responsible as you.

People have become really fond of using antibacterial soap. The problem with using it every day is the bad bugs build up a tolerance for it and then the antibacterial substances don’t work anymore. The next time you get sick and need antibiotics, they may not be as effective. This is why there there is such an epidemic of infection spreading around. Antibacterial soaps and hand cleaners are alright to use occasionally such as the handy bottle of antibacterial hand wash when you are out and there is no soap and water available. But do your self a favor and only use it occasionally.

One more thing, the easiest place for bad bugs to get into your body is through your eyes. Try to refrain from touching your eyes, especially if you haven’t just washed your hands.

Be sure to practice proper hand washing daily. You can prevent yourself from getting sick and you can protect those around you from spreading illness.

Weight Loss/ Wellness Challenge

May is here already. I am still getting in shape with my wellness challenge. How are you doing with your challenge?

I’ve been focusing a lot on nutrition. It’s a lot easier to accomplish goals when you feel well. Proper nutrition is an esential part of that. I’m also working on maintaining clutter free surroundings. Having a lot of clutter around depletes you of energy and causes stress. Stress causes weight gain, fatigue, and irritability. All of which would have a negative effect on my wellness challenge.

My secret for feeling calm, refreshed, and full of energy is Himalayan GoChi Juice. I drink just 4 ounces a day for great results. A lot of the food in our country is deficient in necessary vitamins and nutrients. I feel very strongly that we need to supplement our diets. This juice helps me recover quickly from workouts and keeps me full of energy all day.

Another secret I use for wellness success is water. I drink a lot of water throughout the day. The first sign of dehydration is fatigue. There are too many things that I want to accomplish so there is no room in my life for being tired. Also, a lot of people think that they are hungry when in fact they may be getting dehydrated. Drinking water can curb the appetite and save you from consuming excess calories throughout the day.

My third secret is taking walks with the family. I choose to have an active lifestyle without losing time with my family. So we combine the two and all take walks together. This way we get quality time together and the whole family is being active and getting fit together.
